BCR-2000 - changing MIDI channel

Post by Punky921 » Thu Oct 02, 2008 4:03 pm

Hey guys,

I just picked up a BCR2000 and I'm trying to figure out how to use the first preset (which has all the knobs active) and have it send on a different MIDI channel than channel 1 (which my MPK49 sends MIDI on). Anyone know how to change this? I read the manual but didn't find it (but it was also 1 AM)

I'm actually looking to do exactly the same thing. As far as I've gathered you have to do it for every knob individually. For me anyways, since the editor doesn't work.

am I right guys?

I hear there are some other editors for the PC as well.

Agh. I fucking hope not. That's a lot of goddamn knbos. I think I recall some kind of good BCR editing software a while back. I'd need it for Mac...

I guess you guys have to do it for every single knob - that's how it looks in the manual. In the edit mode, the second value of every knob should have a number from 1 to 16, which are the MIDI Send Channels.

Didn't work for me on a mac. The software can't find the device when it scans so a no-go there for me. Might as well try it though. To be honest I'm not sure it would save time. I think the mouse clicking and changing each one individually would actually be worse.

it doesn't take long to do it by hand. that's a great thing about the BCR, you don't need to fart around with ANOTHER helper app to use it, it's simple to hand edit.

Yeah, all the knobs and buttons have to be indivdually changed. This doesn't take as long as you might think though, and personally I like being able to do it from the hardware itself.

The way I have it set up is all the controls in preset one send on MIDI channel one, all the controls in preset two send on MIDI channel two etc.

The encoder LED's update when you switch presets to reflect the values of the parameters being controlled by the current preset. I'm sure I read on another post that the BCR doesn't do this, but it works fine for me.

I did it by hand last night - I set preset 1 and 2 to channels 5 and 6, respectively, because none of my other devices are transmitting on these channels. Took me a damn while, but was fairly simple when I had the manual close at hand.

Come again? Are you talking about doing this manually from the BCR? Or using the BC Edit App? Are you on Mac or PC?
So we don't have to change each knob/button manually?

Was this in the manual? Several of us are going to be terribly embarrassed if it is.
