I use grid mode exclusively with a monome to trigger my clips. I would like to use KORE on my tracks so that i can have 1 track per instrument, but different patches for clips. For example i have a track for Bass sounds. I would like the clips to be able to trigger different bass patches i have programed in KORE, but it looks like a track can only send to 1 midi channel. I figured that since the midi files themselves can contain the midi channel info, i could set the Midi I/O to all channels in the track, the midi file would send the correct midi channel data and KORE would play back the synth patch that was set to receive that midi channel. This doesn't seem to work, however.
Is there a way to do this? I am creating a set that includes multiple songs, and i dont want to have a track for every different synth i use as this will mess up my grid. I know i could record the synths loops to audio files and stack them in the same track, but i would like to be able to tweek the synths in real time
Can clips send midi channel info for multitimbral plugs?
Ok, thought i'd post my own solution in case anyone is interested.
As far as i can tell Live clips ignore the MIDI channel info embedded in the file, and send to midi channel 1 unless u use the external instrument plug-in. I open a midi file in Logic, and confirm that the midi data is all on (for example) midi channel 4. However when i load this same midi file into a Live clip which has a multitimbral plug (KORE) in it, only the sound for midi channel 1 is triggered.
since each clip within live can do bank and preset changes, the solution for KORE is to use the Performance Presets. Set up a Performance Presets for each different sound in KORE with the KoreSounds you DONT want turned off.
However i have a new problem now. It seems that changing presets in KORE takes enough time that the 1st note in the clip is cut off. Guess i'll have to hit up the NI forum for this one.
