Man, I would like to snag a little Nord Micro Modular which came out sometime in the late 90's I think. They can be had for roughly $400-$500 and the demos I have heard sound killer.

Can anyone comment on whether or not the Micro Modular editor works on a macbook running 10.4.11?

Thanks.

I still have the Micro.. very nice for late night couch sessions..

the Clavia editor still works on 10.4..

an open source, universal editor is in the make..
current build works fine..

can't comment on whether the editor will work for you, but I can say that the micro modular kicks ass. the only down side whatsoever is the lack of knobage. I got mine for $340 on ebay a while back and I was nervous cause I wasn't sure I'd get along with the editor but in the first night of twiddling I figured out quite a bit just fumbling around. you'll want to get a delay pedal for it though. I bought a behringer "vintage delay" for 30 bucks including shipping. works well for the micro, but the frequencey response only goes up to probably 1k or something silly but it sounds good. if you take a high pass filter sound and run it through the pedal at a certain point the pedal no longer "hears" the sound and doesn't echo it back.
although the nice part is that the delay pedal sits sideways right on top of the micro modular above the knobs, so you don't have to sacrifice any more table space to use it.

the NM1 has a cult status, the G2 will never reach that far..
plus the new Nomad editor brought new attention to NM1 since Clavia dropped development..
NM userbase/knowledgebase on electro-music.com is still huge and active..
and above all; its simply a classic synth if you look at its age..

from what I've seen:

micro : $400-$450

g1 rack: $600-$700

g1 keyboard : $700-$750

around there anyway, I'm sure there are quite a bit lower and higher but thats the ballpark I've seen.

I would swiftly sell my micro if I saw a good deal on a g1 rack

If you really into the MS20 sound, the I say go for it. I do quite enjoy that synth but as with many monosynths you are abit more limited to what you can do with the unit. I am now a proud owner of a Moog LP stage II, and its quickly jumped the Roland Jupiter 6 as being one of my favorite analogue synths of all time. The LP is abit stripped down for what it can do, but in my opinion I tend to get more out of it since i don't have to dig around all these bullshit EFX menus, and all this other crap to make a killer sound. The other good thing about the Moog LP is that its a new analogue synth. I've owned analogue units before and nother is more annoying then when they start randomly making noise or lose their tuning mid session.

my 2 cents.

MBP, Live Suite, and lots of nice analogue gear.

Here's the photo I promised...

Sold my Nord G2 to part fund this... I'd originally px'd my G1 keyboard for the G2 but never really connected to it in the same way...

My MicroModular fills in a lot of digital 'holes' in my modular (bitcrushing etc)
