audi input clicks

Post by purveyor2 » Fri Oct 10, 2008 6:45 pm

I have finally hooked up an external synth to my macbook pro/duet/live 7 setup and am getting audio clicks. The same set up in Logic has clean audio. In live it clicks and makes the external audio unusable. I have tried different soundcard parameters, different audio cables, etc. Again it works great in Logic, in Live audio glitches appear with both monitored playing and the recordings. Any thoughts?

Hi,

what version of OS X do you use? Is everything up-to date? Please try, if turning off the Airport card while you are using Live helps. If it does: have your system software updated!
If not: what buffer size have you set in Live´s preferences? Does it help to set a larger buffer?

Best,

thanks for the quick reply. OSX 10.4.11, Live 7.0.10. Turning off airport and bluetooth have not changed anything. I get the click/pops occasionally like many other mac users have discussed - it is unpredictable and not frequent.

I have changed the buffer size to over 1000 and no change, but the noises made when adjusting those numbers are the same that I hear when the synth signal is routed through Live.

I was sure it was a problem with the input signal - cord, duet connectors, etc. But it works in Logic, which sucks because I stopped using Logic months ago when I picked up Live:)

I can load in my previous Live sets and play softsynths without a problem.

I took the buffer size over 2000 samples and it is clean. I actually had it set really low :? for some reason

It's all good.

Hi,

glad it works, but you should definitely get along with a 512 samples buffer while using your Mac´s internal audio input as well.
