Thanks for showing your true colors - Anti Americans
DJDEMO, for the sake of discussion, what, in your mind, qualifies a person as "anti-american"?
The way I see it, the socalled "negative" posts have been regarding US policy, which, since this policy is *global* affects us all, which in turn gives us the very real right to comment it.
-So, if we critisize american foreign policy - world policy, and feel that the choices which lead to this policy (mainly who is elected and why) aren't übercool, does that make us "Anti-american"?
Nope. Anti-Bush, Anti-empirialism maybe...
A good many of the posters on those political threads were american. Understandable, since Bush getting reelected is soooo much more "their problem". These "minority" americans, many millions that is, also have to deal with W.s domestic policy.
Anyway, let's all keep these discussions nice and civil, the free exchange of opinions is still very important.

I don't disagree with whats been done, I disagree strongly with HOW this "war on Terror" has been run. The whole concept of "pre-emptive strike" is absurd to a lot of us. But the families of the tens of thousands of dead iraqi people might not consider their deaths acceptable or for a worthy cause..DjDEMO wrote:Ok, here is a question I have for everyone. Please answer.
Is it better that Saddam is gone and Iraq will at least have a chance to be free? Even though it may take years.
Or would it have been better to have left Saddam in power?

And Jesus doesn't like when you kill an embryo, but he don't mind when you kill brown children. He told bush to go to war with Iraq, just like Allah told Bin Laden to attack America. That Kerry is just a dope smoking art fag liberal. I heard he speaks 3 languages and plays classical guitar. What a faggot.

Modern Iraq was, like most Middle Eastern countries, "assembled" during the peace negotiations after the First World War from the remnants of the Ottoman Empire. It consists of the olde Mosul, Basra, and Baghdad provinces... but anyways, up untill recently (when the violence and all starting get real bad) 85% of the Iraqis felt they were better off now than before Saddam, and only very few would want him back. So don't say that...udp wrote:"Modern" Iraq is not that old. It was Iraqi exiles whom expressed interest in democracy.
Much of the violence in Iraq is down to the people from all over the Middle East coming to Iraq to express that, wellerr, Westerners aren't wanted in the Middle East.

I never trust a president who plays an instrument. Look at what that saxophone playing, dope smoking Clinton did with that Lewinsky girl. It's tragic, but at least he got impeached for it. Sodomy should be illegal in every state, not just some of them.pax wrote:That Kerry is just a dope smoking art fag liberal. I heard he speaks 3 languages and plays classical guitar. What a faggot.
Yes, an American president that might get turned on to Ableton Live. This would be a catastrophe for the planet.
I'm all for a rational discussion. It was comments made in another thread that lead me to the anti American comments. Anti-American is when you slam the whole population as being stupid and ignorant for electing a president that "You" dont like. There was one individual who made some harsh comments...and a few others followed. Check the thread OT - Bush Supporters.
I honestly dont think the insurgents mirror the thoughts of the Iraqi people. I have friends who are over there who say the beheading videos sell on the streets of Baghdad, but I still believe that is the minority. Even if they want the coalition out...I'm sure they don't want the insurgents (saddam loyaltists) to take over.
Some people make these insurgents out to be freedom fighters. They are far from that. I dont think anyone rational supports the beheading of innocent people. Or car bombings...etc. These insurgents are destroying any chance Iraq has of gaining some stability.
You are right. I agree. We (the US) do not have the right to force freedom or our views on other countries. BUT, every country should offer civil rights. That is something that Iraqis had no part of. The Sunnis were the only ones who benefitted from Saddam.
In the end though, I agree...freedom needs to be recognized. Not forced.
Europeans need to realize...the US is not as liberal as they are. This is still a fairly conservative country. There was no way some of Kerry's views were going to go over well with certain parts of the country.

no gwb did not comply with the un, and tens of thousands of innocents are dead as a result. by your own statement, war is justified against the transgressor(s) of these crimes against humanity. its time to put ceasars head on a plate, and those who follow. He didnt comply with UN resolutions for years. That alone justified war.

Actually, I don't have a problem with someone from say, France saying that we Americans are a bunch of fat, Ignorant, greedy pigs. We proved this on Tuesday. There was however a real show of American colors in this country that went largely unnoticed...at least by the fat, Ignorant, greedy pigs.
It happened over the course of the last year in the form of rallies, concerts and other gatherings. It happened with the largest human rights march in our nation's history last spring when women and men from all over this country gathered in Washington DC to oppose this adminstration's stance on Women's rights.
It happened with numerous anti-war rallies and benifit concerts all over the US throughout the year. It happened when artists like Bruce Springsteen, Mudhoney, The Supersuckers, Sheryl Crow, Pearl Jam, Em Nm Em, Marky Ramone and countless others donated their time and art to help get people involved and to plead with them to take steps to help make change.
This is because all of these people and many more (about half of the US it seems) are EXTREMELY unhappy and fearful with the direction that this administration is leading us in.
Anyone who comes to a music forum to whine about badmouthing George Bush and his administration should take a moment to ponder why virtually every artist/musician of note in this country (and elsewhere) vehemently opposes George Bush, his administration and its threat to the planet, liberty and the arts.
