Anybody recommend a good read to inspire me please - inside the industry like, preferably with some technical matter?

http://books.google.com/books?id=jAWlEI ... t#PPR11,M1

Use this super huge link to find a book called God's Debris... More of a book on the mystery of life... It's a quick read, 154 pages. Kind of philosophical...
If you can imagine it, it can happen...

If you haven't caught "Behind The Glass" - I'd throw up that as ESSENTIAL reading. For anyone making records.

I really enjoyed
Here, There and Everywhere: My Life Recording the Music of the Beatles - by Geoff Emerick.
You may not learn how to program Mad Phattt Beatzz, but it may help understand how the old masters approached the recording process. Geoff was behind most of the experimental sounds of the beatles albums.

I also recommend
Practical Information for Instrument Design, by Bart Hopkin

it's actually about how 'real' instruments work and can be created - but it will make you think about synthesis, filters, resonation, etc ... in a different way.

"Handmade Electronic Music: The Art of Hardware Hacking" by Nicolas Collins.

"Circuit-Bending: Build Your Own Alien Instruments" by Reed Ghazala.

"Mastering Audio" by Bob Katz.
