Well, Apple takes 220 Euro extra for a CPU difference that costs only 20 Euro on the market.

I'm still not out on this one, HP Elite Notebooks come with high resolution screens, eSATA and probably replaceable CPUs for that price. If only the people around me wouldn't build their music systems all around OS X. :?

what i just read up is apple stole the mouse idea from xerox!

"Many say that Bill Gates stole the idea for a graphical operating system and the mouse from Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computer, who stole the idea from Xerox."

the man who invented the mouse WAS Dr Douglas Engelbart but he did not work for apple, he licenced off his idea to apple. The patent expired just before personal computers became popular.

And ive been wrong for over 20 years!!...

It's no secret that Apple ripped off a lot of things from Xerox (and later NeXT did too - things like networking and object-oriented programming), but they added a few core concepts and more importantly turned it into a mass-producable device that people could actually buy.

You shouldn't think of technological progress as stealing. It's evolution. Nine times out of ten when somebody claims to have a completely new idea, it'll turn out they just aren't familiar with the seven other people who already had the exact same idea, much less the sixteen who've written books about why it's a stupid idea to begin with...

so the keys aren't curved anymore on the macbook pros? They use the crappy flat macbook keys now? wow, what an advance. And to me it looks like there's more black space around the screen then there was metal casing before. So is the screen narrower or is the laptop a bit wider?

It runs like shite. Completely unusable, resource hogging and ugly with a crappy user interface.

(that is, it's exactly like any other PC if you put Windows on it, there's no difference)

unless of course you actually know what youre doing. then they run trouble and virus free, on dirt cheap hardware. but dont let any facts get in the way of your baseless ranting.

mr Adl, XP runs just fine on bootcamp, performs very well, its just PC hardware after all. Youre paying a premium for the MacOS so you might as well run that if youre going to pay extra for the hardware.
