hi
hey guys,
i use an ibook (600/384/ os 10.1.5) and i have noticed some stuff.
i can stack up to about 35% and the audio breaks up. this is if i am using my edirol ua3 interface. this is also the case using the imic and the edirol ua5. if i use the internal soundjack on the ibook i can add about 20% to that figure. if i run any amount over 50% using the jack, tweaking the parameters gets VERY sluggish, almost to the poin of me not wanting to use the ibook for live performance.
my music is very abstract and slurry, so i generally use about 3 live tracks; one track for live input of my circuit bent goodies (for live looping and processing) and i use 2 tracks for sample loop playback and live procerssing. this seems to work great. i used to use the oxygen8 live, but i have fallen in love with using a wacom pentablet and stylus to perform.
my studio set up is an emac 700 g4/ 384 ram/ osX.1.5. the studio set up STILL freaks out with the usb audio, but i have learned to not really NEED anything more, as i layer my tracks heavily on the front in. i also use reason 2.0 in rewire with live 1.5 with no problems. fun stuff.
anybody know what is up with apple's usb streaming? i feel this might be the problem because this shit runs fine on a celeron pc laptop (not to start another online platform war). any ideas as to stop the usb audio from freakin out?
again, i love live and i love osX. osX has allowed me to do a lot of neat shit, like dv editing (iMovie rocks!) , iphoto, and all the other little osX sweet things...of course, all of these things you can do on a pc, but my brain seems to REALLY respond well with osX. i switched from pc to mac back in march, and i originally started using audio apps in os9, but once i booted over into osX and installed live, BANG, convert for life. os9 seemed not a DAMN bit better than windows2000. i guess it just seemed foreign to my dumb ass.
bub2000, thanks for sharing the pics and music. i really liked the string textures in the first song on yer ampcast page. bueno.
