Huh? The great news here is that a single laptop will run an integration of Live and Serato. Two CDJs with Serato control discs and a mixer is going to a whole lot o' fun!Khazul wrote: The other headache - for running this lot - you do really need two displays - which probably means two laptops + pair of audio interfaces, midi sync between them etc.
With all that messing around - its actually becoming attractive to just use a pair of CDJs a mixer and an MPC (synced from a DJM-800 or Koass pad etc) for clips.

Duh. I see what you were saying, Kaz. It wouldn't be fun running Traktor and Live. Hopefully the new partnership will allow the user to see multiple waveforms with multiple decks with dedicated DJ effects so you can do everything you do in Traktor with Serableton.Hidden Driveways wrote:Huh? John I hope we see that the coloured waveforms for sure, it's one of the things I miss the most when I go from Serato to Live.
Also from the SSL forum cMo posted these ideas which I think are great too:
Also Serato seems to track and identify the beat pretty well (even though I think they will never have an auto beat match option insde SSL) it could mean that Live's auto warping could dramatically improve (kind of a la Traktor Pro with the auto beat grids -> though I haven't tried it not sure how good it reallly is)
Maybe they will even let us see multiple waveforms at the same time?
I'm sure they will surprise us with these and more features, so exciting!
I just hope it doesn't take them as long as releasing the mac ASIO drivers for the SL1 (never!).

Imagine having 5 cue points inside each live track! Plus a mix of ableton's and serato's looping capabilities ooooo!!-Use Serato's library in Ableton Live (the Live library searching is no bueno - I already use SSL to locate tracks and drop them in Live that way).
-Will allow Ableton Live to see all your cue points, loops, and overviews. This will make arranging podcasts, radio shows, whatever that much easier.

Re: Ableton Scratch Live ?
Well, hopefully it means I can FINALLY sort my tracks and clips in ableton by bpm, bitrate, album, or all the other type of organizational awesomeness that Serato has. Organizing music for an Ableton DJ set SUCKS. I have to duplicate all my music into a separate folder so my iTunes and Serato libraries don't get all fucked up.
Also, hopefully, it means I can do my original material Live sets with turntables involved, since that's what got me here in the first place, and it sucks to DJ from a laptop anyways, no matter how many midi controllers you have.
Also, hopefully it means people will have to learn to mix (again) to be DJs!
I'm really excited about this one...

It's definitely going to be hot Atrak says he had to sign a disclosure for serato and Dj Shortcut says he is buying mad stock after release..great hype machine they got goin anyway..
For now i don't mind syncing the two manually and manipulating my audio path from serato ..got my ttm56 running each deck post fader to separate ch. in live ...starting to see how lazy I've been..there's a lot of potential with what we have right now....

I run the 2 apps also on separate laptops but had a question about your setup.. I've got a 56 also but was wondering what are the advantages of running each deck post fader to separate channels?Agent G wrote:It's definitely going to be hot Atrak says he had to sign a disclosure for serato and Dj Shortcut says he is buying mad stock after release..great hype machine they got goin anyway..

mainly recording live mixtapes and then go back in to fix levels and such... but efx are also a reason... haven't perfected yet but it's coming along.. i out put one deck thru send all the way wet with no return and other on master..
Re: Ableton Scratch Live ?
it's funny, I just saw Shortcut a couple of weeks ago.. I should have asked him although I am sure he doesn't remember me.. we were introduced a while back but I didn't feel like saying "hey, remember me" and didn't want to feel humilated.. i do find it funny that he is testing whatever Serato/Ableton is conjuring up cuz I've never seen him use Ableton.. Actually, I don't know of any turntablist that use Ableton (ok, Enferno is one)..
Re: Ableton Scratch Live ?
yeah i don't know if he uses ableton i'm sure he is onit by now.. such a great tool for edits ...yeah it is funny that you don't see more big name turntablist using the combo.i love the looping with able....would also like to see more from dj numark on ableton he is interesting ...enferno is dope at it..
