i am not shure if it is the best, best one (two channel)

but it is a very fine piece of gear. used widespread in professional area.

if you need proper info on that level... got to recording.org -> the mastering section and ask michael fossenkemper (moderator)

Motu Ultralite

Post by FavoriteStation » Mon Oct 20, 2008 9:20 pm

I have used a motu ultralite for the last 2 years, and the thing is solid! I love it. 0 latency, built like a tank, fabulous pre-amps.
Mac Book Pro 2.33 GHZ, Live 6, Battery 3, Absynth 4, Massive, Motu Ultra Lite, FaderFox, Axiom 25, Novation RemoteZer0 SL.

Thanks, I use a Motu Traveller, and am also extremely pleased/delighted with the quality. I am just curious what the 'high end' alternatives are..and conscious that compromises must have been made with the quality of the pre-amps and DA converters in the Motu to get the price of the entire unit so (comparitively) low - UA 610 for two pre-amps, is about £2K for example

If your music still sounds bad and your using that you can be sure that it is you.

Sorry did not intend that to be a put down. All I wanted to get across was that if you went with that you could trust that it would not cause any sonic problems with your material. The sound quality in that little box will be much better than anything from MOTU, Presonus, M-audio, Tascam or any other pro-sumer audio interface for under $500. I sold them full time for a couple of years so I a good feel where things stood in the audio interface market. If you want to save a few bucks you could look at the TC Electronic Konnekt series.

metric halo uln2 seems real nice, heard some good things about them here, plus the dsp looks to be the busyness. about the same price as the rosetta, although mac only. if i were to choose between the two, i'd lean towards the metric halo.

and there is always the cream of the crop...prism sound orpheus... prolly the very best, and all yours for a mere sum of five thousand american dollars

RME is very high end, too. A bit expensive, but worth the listen.

IF you want HIGH end, there's things like the Prism Orpheus, etc that can cost you well over $5000.
