Hi I was wondering if there was a way to have two laptops sync'd to each other tempo-wise while allowing both laptops to change the tempo.
Is there some sort of work around for this?
Midi Sync - Controlling tempo
you'd create a midi loop.8O wrote:I guess one should be tempo master and one slave usually, but I don't see why you can't swap master/slave whenever you need the other laptop to change the tempo. I haven't tried it, but I expect they could stay synched before and after the swap... have you tried that already?
OP - this is in the manual.
Slave:
'sync in' on
EXT lit up
hit play (won't play yet)
Master:
'sync out' on
hit play -both start

You could send the tempo change from the slave to the master, via midi. For instance, attach a midi controller to it, and send whatever it sends to your slave laptop, and from there to the master, and then use midi learn on the master to assign that to your tempo. Something like that...
I don't know how to do this without an external MIDI controller. It would be neat if Ableton had a plugin with some midi-assignable knobs. or something, but I don't think that's the case.
