My First Foray into Ambient...

Post by ScholarlyGent » Fri Oct 24, 2008 10:37 pm

Well, I've been making music for over ten years now but never a single ambient track... UNTIL NOW.

If you're at all interested go to the below link and give it a listen. I'd love some feedback. The track is entitled "To Think About the Ultimate" (I'm probably gonna change that- its a little cliche) and I'd definitely recommend headphones.

Oh yeah- I also made it so all my tracks can be downloaded for free so please enjoy!

Efffin sick!!! Beautiful track man... especially considering this is your first time with ambient! I totally zoned out to that!!! I really love the little surprises too- and its true you definitely need headphones to really enjoy this... just not even the same track out of my computer speakers.

I've listened to all your other tracks before and it seems like you've been progressing in the ambient direction. Keep up the good work.

Yeah, I guess my last few tracks have kinda been progressing in this direction- but I've always been all over the place so who knows whats next

hopefully the "if you cant say anything nice, dont say anything at all" rule is not holding people back here. Hey,its my first ambient track... not only can I take criticism, I need it.

very nice. i love ambient music and that was definately ambient. it reminded me initally of being trapped in the old studio at uni which was an old house with bizzare escher staircases. but then i transformed into an 8 year old playing monkey island in my attic with the spiders. I'm not going to comment on production as i have no interest in commenting on stuff like that. but it sounded good. maybe needed more emotion change somewhere, but thats just a personal thing i do in my compositions. so 9//10 from me .

forest of the giant frogs was cool too :=) reminded me of the old painting that hung in my parents room when i was a kid, and i would try and wish myself inside it. I never managed it but your song made me feel like i was in it. Thanks.

Cheers for posting m8 this is just what I needed after helping some family members move today some laid back ambient tunes,
and "Metro to the pentagon" "Forest of the Giant Frogs" & To think about the Ultimate" fit the bill nicely.

Just wish the first two I listed were a bit longer, but other than that good stuff.

Much, much appreciated! I am not signed and I would love to make the tracks available for free download. I tried to do it through myspace the other day but it looks like its not working... I'll have to figure out what the deal is. Thanks for the praise again!
