No drop-outs at my last gig!
I have the same problems as a lot LIVE users seem to have (drop outs).
Drop outs seem to happen only when I launch LIVE and only the very first time I use my midi controller to change a sends level on any track. (I use a ReMOTE 25 ).
My way around ugly drop outs is to : After loading the first song of my set I twist one of the sends controllers on my midi keyboard before I start the song. I then can tweek anything on my controller without any glitches while the song is playing.
I load the next song and do the same. I do this at every gig and have had no drop outs so far (fingers crossed)
My set up is : PowerBook 800Mhz, 1 gig Ram, OSX 1.2.6, MOTU 828 firewire, Novation ReMOTE 25 USB controller.
Until this Bug is Fixed (I've been using LIVE since v1.5), and I cant remember it ever not having this highly annoying bug. I have found this simple tweek before PLAY method a good work around.

"Tweaking" in this setting would be, well, turning a rotary knob, moving a fader or similar controls.

hi randolf!
which live version do you use?
i had the same problem with live 3.
but your solution / trick did not work with live 3.
it seems to be a workaround or trick for live 4.
the same thing happens with arming a track for recording, if you do live smapling on stage....
hope they fix it soon...
at the moment there is another big problem with occasionally brutal audio clicking once in a while...
i am not sure if this happens only with live 4.04 or if the new quicktime update is the cause...
they work on the bug...
hopefully these things get solved in the near future.
best

Since 4.x was in beta, I've been doing this live on stage. Load a song -> Hit a key on the MIDI keyboard or move a MIDI slider. If I forget to do this before the song starts, I'm afraid to hit a MIDI key during the song. I've gotten into the habit of this for the past few months. If it gets fixed, I bet I'll still be hitting some MIDI key before the song starts.

sorry i didn't get around to replying to anyone but I was not notified of any replies via my email address.
I'm using live 4.04
There seems to be a few different reasons for audio drop outs but for me the trick was to move a fader or twist a knob on my midi controller before I hit play. After that I don't get the drop outs whenever I tweek a controller.
I was having this same problem and solution in Live 3 too.
Sorry again for not replying sooner.

moving each fader?
hi randolf,
did you move each fader separately, or has moving one fader been sufficient for you?
i'm using a doepfer drehbank (64 knobs) which has a 'snap' button that sends all fader's values at once - but did encounter dropouts as often as always...
how did you do it: starting live. open liveset. BEFORE hitting play: moving one fader?
how many scenes and clips are you using (approximately MB of all samples (not RAM usage, but harddisk usage) together would be very interesting!)
thanx a lot,
alex

I start Live, open Live set, twist a knob on my Novation Remote 25, any knob that sends midi data to the live project will do, and I do this before I start the song.
I usually have about 12 tracks in a song and 10 to 12 scenes.
Samples/clips stream from hard drive and not ram and vary in size. Some are long 70 to 75 meg and some only a couple of meg eg 2 bar drum loops. It really varies with each song.
I use the Live filter effect on the master track and Ohmforce Ohmboys delay as a send on all tracks. This is saved in my Live template.
The knob I twist before I start the song is one that adjusts the send level to a track, any track with a clip will do.
Hope this info is of some use.
