OT: Coffee - can it send you mental?
I've never really drunk coffee but on a whim I bought a large Mocha the other day, and it was like heaven on my tongue.
When I had finished it though I shook all morning and wanted to kill everyone.
I tried again today and am in a violent rage. I even emailed the council to compain about photographers blocking the pavement. Is it a coincidence, or is coffee a bit like angel dust in some respects?

some say coffee and nicotine actually awaken us from the insidious poisoning we are subjected to on a daily basis that puts us in a state of constant apathy. its no real surprise the best musicians and artists all indulge in heavy smoking.brightonalex wrote:I've never really drunk coffee but on a whim I bought a large Mocha the other day, and it was like heaven on my tongue.

i seem to be a couple of coffees behind everyone else. i tend to be a wee bit monosyllabic before my first hit of the day. i'd like to think its just a placebo but I suspect its the drugs.
there's an interesting article here that seems to suggest that the smell of coffee is just as or more effective than drinking it.

Excessive caffeine consumption will fuck you up over time however, but i agree there is definitely a relationship between the creative and excess.

I would rather believe someone put some angel dust into your coffee. Did you use real sugar or saccharine?brightonalex wrote:I've never really drunk coffee but on a whim I bought a large Mocha the other day, and it was like heaven on my tongue.

i drink coffee at least 3 times a day.
I regularly only drink espresso, which I´ve read somewhere contains less caffeine than regular coffee. Dunno if that is true.
I have friends who drink way more coffee than me, they even sink a big cup before going to bed.
I guess it´s the same with everything excesive use it not so good for you.
But how much is too much?

I recently quit coffee. I love it beyond words, but I had to quit. That shit gives me the jitters.
It's all about tea. Tea rules everything. I know black tea has a lot of caffeine too, but it's a mellower buzz. I love loose black tea. I always liked it, but at one point I went to Iceland and the people I hung out with there got me hooked.
Chinese Imperial is heaven. Just a splash of milk an a drop of golden honey.

Neither. He says "would you like sugar?" and I said "no thank you". He had an accent though, so it could well be drugs.pepezabala wrote:I would rather believe someone put some angel dust into your coffee. Coffee's bad. It makes me feel great for an hour then I come down and get angry.

The problem with coffee (in my experience) is that, like all drugs, if you come to rely on it you're in for trouble. If I drink coffee every day it gets to where I feel about as good as I did without coffee, and if I don't have it I can hardly make it through a day. So I use coffee for occasional bursts of energy or at the end of the day if I need a boost.
Tea is really nice....earl gray is my favorite. Yerba mate is a good coffee alternative for some people.
Coffee is also a diuretic, so be sure to stay hydrated.
Oh, and nothings better than that good ole coffee pot speedball high!

I was born in Colombia and as you guess I grew up drinking coffee (Colombian coffee is one of the best in the world...
),it has never changed my behavior in a bad way or so...I can, even, stop drinking it for weeks and nothing happens. I used to drink about 5-6 cups a day (maximum recommended) but now it's only 2-3 cups a week (i'm broke here).
Try these:
4 oz coffee+1 oz brandy (or rum, aguardiente) we call it "carajillo".
6 oz coffee+1 oz bailey's
4 oz coffee+1 oz apple wine+ orange juice.
4 oz coffee+1 oz brandy+1 oz amaretto+ milk(powder)+ vanilla...blend it for 10 seconds...hmmm...
