live 7.0.7 stops responding

i'm having an ongoing problem with live 7.0.7. this happens about 80% of the time:

1. live starts very slowly
2. in session view, i see a message that reads, "opening samples" and it appears to get stuck at 20% for a while
3. when the set finally loads and i hit the play button, live just stops responding.

it does not crash my computer - only live.
deleting "preferences.cfg" and "undo.cfg" does not solve it.
i upgraded from 7.0.1 to 7.0.7 - this did not fix the problem.
i am using the asio4all driver - this has not helped.

my computer is a dell inspiron e1505, intel dual core 2ghz w/2 G RAM running winxp pro. i use an external sound card - it's a tascam us-144 usb audio device. the tascam appears to be working fine. i'm not having problems with any other application or process - only ableton live.

does anyone know how to fix? i hope??

what did you do??? i have contacted ableton support people numberous of time and they cant give me a solution, and they change people to answer me, and fuck i need to get this fixx.. please anyone HELP MEE OUUUTT!!!!!!

Irunning a mac powerbook g4, mac osx 10.4.11, ableton LE 7.0.10 ..

please help im dyiing here!!!
