my sliders(system exclusive) don't work (Roland JX-1)

Post by bart » Tue Nov 26, 2002 11:18 pm

Hi.

I have a Roland JX-1 and have 4 sliders that send system exclusive MIDI signals. i tried to assign these MIDI sliders to the virtual Ableton sliders with Edit MIDI MAP but it won't work. assigning keys from the synth (tha black and white ones) does work fine...

any ideas why?

hy bart,

it´s quite simple (but propably not nice for you to hear..)
by now, live cannot handle sysex commands, only cc, midi note- on /off etc..

8O

but i have seen special midi knob apparatus with loads of knobs on it,

also discussed in this newsgroup before, i think some FATBOY MIDI boxes where discussed.

well, i start to think different about Live, i thought i could use the software because it's loopbased, but with the lack of MIDI support i think it's totally useless to me, i am not the type who want to make commercial lounge CD's with lots off grabbed samples and mixed together, i would like to freak around with loops that i make on the fly. that is also not possible with Live, i can't record a MIDI loop on the fly, only wav.....
