This is where i'm probably gonna go if the live/cycle74 deal doesn't give some thing up that is ready made. From tying bits and pieces of net-fomation together its my understanding that that particular collaboration is going to produce another new product separate from live MAX/Msp. To that end Numerology 2 is looking very cool.

yeah, i got it working, it's very cool! you have to send midi out of ableton and back in again so you can 'map' it. i used the IAC driver on my macbook.

Yes! Midi plugs have to be an instrument in OS X, so:

- Put the LFO by itself in a midi track

- Make a new midi track (for simplicity), drop a 3rd party instrument that supports midi learn (I used U-He's free Triple Cheese)

- Set the instrument's Midi From to the track that the lfo is on

- Make sure Live is playing

- "Learn" the LFO's midi message on the instrument using it's protocol. Triple Cheese just uses a right click.

- You can of course use a separate Midi track to route the lfo to the instrument so you can leave the instrument's track free for keyboard input, etc..

To use a native Live device, the story is not so simple. You have to use a midi loop back device to route midi out from the LFO then back into Live, then you can midi learn the LFO's signal.

How are you getting the MIDI out? I'm running windows, so I use MIDI-yoke instead if IAC, but it should still work. When I put the plugin on a MIDI channel the output selection changes to "Audio Out" instead of "MIDI Out", so there's no way to tell the output to go to MIDI-yoke. If I create another midi track and tell it to get it's input from the midi track with the LFO on it, I get nothing.

Yeah I think I had to create that second midi track - then you set the output to MIDI-yoke? The mixer fader should light up but only one circle (CC). Oh and don't forget to set Monitor to 'IN'.

I wish that LFO could be randomized and then the possibilities for textures would be ENDLESS!
