help me brainstorm possibilities for two man bands

Post by nowtime » Sat Nov 01, 2008 5:05 am

As only fellow Abletoneers know, we wield a good deal of power with our mice and our midi controllers and our drum beats.

I am sometimes overwhelmed with the choices and possibilities. Add to the equation a deep love for almost every genre of music, being a multi-instrumentalist and singer and songwriter and entertainer and improviser, and one can get overloaded.

I know some of you have similar skills and if anyone wants to brainstorm, discuss, or post links to the possibilities for 2-man-bands, that would be cool. I can't be the only one with the vision, and recently heard or maybe read here that they are an emerging trend.

I am generally motivated primarily by Creativity, but dammit! if sometimes I don't think "how could I use these skills strictly for making money?"

A two-man-band gets paid SO much better than a 4 or 6 piece group, but I see the point of having more men on the team, maybe a 3 piece. But a 2 person nucleous is mighty attractive!

Hot! Yeah you're spot on. It really is about the samplers for me, too.

reverse-engineer the problem. think about what you most want people to see you doing live then think about how the rest of your music fits around that.
