Using laptop screen as display for desktop tower PC.

Post by reganovich » Sun Nov 02, 2008 10:25 pm

Hi all,

googled this without getting any conclusive answers.

What i'd like to be able to do is run a desktop tower pc through the laptop screen.
Because i dont have the space for a full desktop set up but I envy the specs that are possible with it.

any ideas?
Line 6 toneport KB37 + Acer 2GHZ amd sempron laptop - any tips to get the best out of this "modest" set up would be greatly appreciated!

Normally people would do that the other way round, plugging in a 2nd display to a laptop. Not sure that any laptops have ports that would enable this to be done easily.

If the laptop was running you might be able to use some remote desktop software to access the desktop from the laptop.

Remote Desktop
Ableton’s engineers are hard
at work developing code that will allow our software to predict the future, but we don’t
anticipate having this available until at least the next major release.

That's not a bad idea - TightVNC might work too. What type of video in/out ports does your laptop have?
