Latency glitches with Ableton 6 and Numark DJ IO. HELP!

It seems impossible to find any information on the internet about people using the Numark DJ IO USB audio interface with Ableton.

I have just got my hands on this unit and it works absolutely perfectly with Traktor 3, with a buffer giving a latency of 5.5ms... but here's the rest:

I am running Ableton v6.0.9 (licenced) on a laptop running Windows Vista (also licensed).

Laptop SPEC:

I have just bought a Numark DJ IO audio interface to use it's 2 outputs for DJ'ing: one for master output and the other for cueing so I can DJ with Ableton. I installed the latest product ASIO driver v2.8.9 from the CD-Rom without any issues.

In the Audio preferences / I/O setup, I have selected Numark USB audio interface as the device and have elected ASIO drivers to be used.

I have also selected the DJ IO as the default soundcard in Windows.

Stereo pair 1&2 are routed to the master output and 3&4 are routed for cueing, but the problem is that, even with the highest latency setting (1024 sample buffer @ 44.1 KHz), I still get intermittent audio glitches.

These glitches are more frequently occuring for smaller buffer settings (e.g. 256 samples) as you'd expect, but even at the HIGHEST possible latency (which totals 96ms!... screw the "ultra-low latency audio" tag), I still am unable to operate without serious glitchy sound problems!!!

These glitches do not even occur with the bloody built-in sound card on the laptop when i run up to 10 tracks!

This glitching (dropping of audio for a split second, pops ans crackles) occurs more when more tracks (all mp3's @ 320 Kbps) are being played simultaneously. It seems to happen when mostly when dragging sliders/scrolling windows etc. in the application as 1 or more tracks are being played!

It cannot just be a fault with the audio interface itself, as it is perfect at 5.5 ms latency in Traktor 3!!!!

Are there any specific settings you recommend that I change/check in Ableton or Windows?
Is there something obvious I missing/forgetting to check? Anyone else affected? ANY SUGGESTION PLEASE?
