Like I said, I'm pretty sure the OP is talking about using the ableton mixer automap - template 40. The automap server is only used for template 38. Adjusting acceleration through the automap server should have no effect at all on the rotaries while in ableton automap. If someone would like to prove me wrong, I'd be grateful.
no I agree with you, and I double checked to be sure. however, one might be able to change it directly in the SL by editing template 40's CC map on the device. maybe. I dunno I just use template 40 for mixing purposes and template 38 for everything else since I like being able to control my plugins in depth the way I want. The rotaries are only good for hard change typ eparameters like osc semitones, waveshapes, filter types, etc. for smooth action stuff like cutoff or envelopes or whatever I use the regular nobs and faders.

There's a script out there that does exactly this. I've tried it and it works. Search the board.

Yeah a link would be cool.

Apart from the encoder issue I love the automap and template 40. In the 38 template its so damn easy to set up for all plugins. This is my third controller and wish they were all this easy. I had it up and working within minutes without having to learn how to program it myself and was dissapointed when I bought my other devices because I was led to believe they were just plug and play but hell no, a lot more to it.
I also love the 40 template. Its why I bought it. When i start a song the mixing controls are instantly there to tweak, so much faster workflow and more possiblites. Coming from a DJ background that feeling of playing live and creating at the same time is the best (i think) way to write.
So I dont understand why people dont like and use it as it was designed.

I can actually get the pots to work by just swapping the cc's to the relevant number as the encoder's but range control doesnt work. They behave erraticly and uncontrollable but they do respond!

I have found the MCE for SL for forum discussion and am downloading now so going to try. Looks good, and if its going to bahve like a Mackie then

Here's the link for the MCE

http://music.geocities.jp/icontrolit56/

By the way the manual doesnt say anything bout changing the encoders, only their response mode.

I let you know if the MCE works

Ok Ive tried getting the MCE to work but with no chance. You have to know a lot about midi and download midi-ox (yoke?) to maybe get it to work, and after trying for a little bit Im realising that its way over my head. 8O

So if anybody knows how to get this thing to work then please post up step instructions if you have time. It certainly looks like it might be worth it

But back to my original, anyone figured how to change the encoder range???

use it as it is for a while before you go mucking about with it.

I guarantee you'll completely screw yourself over and won't be able to use it at all if you start tweaking it before you get to know it.

there are tons of threads on the topic. you're asking for a step by step on how to get it set up, that's what manuals are for. again, there are MANY threads on the topic.

good luck!

Your right I think I will screw up big time if im not carefull. I am happy with how it works (except for the crappy encoder response), but the idea of it working bit more like the mackie is too apealing. I know I should just get a Mackie but its very expensive and i got a cracking deal on the SL brand new from ebay plus I aint got the room for a Mackie! It would be cool though if I could scroll through native synths and effects in a track from the SL and be able to toggle session and arrangement from the SL also, but I would settle for being able to adjust the encoder response

novation ReMote Sl25 and ableton

Hi Guys
Sounds like you know a lot about controllers and how to get them to work.

I got the Sl 25 and have, for a long time been using it, but only been able to use the mixer and transport.
So 2 days ago I downloaded the newést installers and universal automap to get the hole thing to run.(befor I could not control my instruments or efx, on the left side of the sl 25)
now it´s all running but the transport is not working any more and ditto to the left side. everything is showed in the lcd, but no respond.

I tryed to use it in reason 3, and all worked fine.....

A nice guy at novation has tryed to help me, but the replys are coming slow.

is there anyone who knows this problem or a solution to this.

cheers

fred

just to make sure, you are trying to use this in live, right? Sounds like you dont have it set up as a controller surface in live. There are detailed instructions to configure ableton live to work with the SL in the SL's user guide.
