COMPLETE LOCK-OUT/CRASH OS X!

I am having an ongoing issue when DJing with Live.

About once every three gigs i play Ableton Live seems to fully lock, audio stops and i have to power off my computer by holding in the start button.

However this only seems to happen when i have a firewire audio interface plugged into my system. I use Ableton Live without a firewire audio interface a lot when at home and there is no problem, only when i am using it at a gig i use the audio interface.

I have not singled this out to just one audio interface, this happened with both firewire devices i have, M audio Firewire Audiophile and Motu ultralite firewire.

About a week ago i decided to fully format my computer and reinstall everything and i am still having the same problem.

My tech specs are as follows:
MacBook Pro 2.16gHz
2MB RAM

OS X 10.5.5 (With all the latest updates installed)
Ableton Live 7 (Latest Update)
UC-33 Midi Controller
All the latest driver updates for audio interfaces

I have tried many things like repairing the disk permissions on OSx, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and a complete reformat and full reinstallation and still i'm having the problem.

Could anyone suggest anything new?
