Right-Click...

Post by ToLTeK » Mon Oct 11, 2004 4:22 am

I think that Live is The only application I'm aware of that doesn't implement this feature...

yes, I wish Live supports right-clicks and make things more efficient for us PC users.

... and not only for PC users. There is also a right click on Mac even if you need a non-Mac mouse...

Guys, I can't second this enough...and yes, I did join in on the other threads regarding better mouse usage.

These days, it's silly to not have support for multi-button mouse(s) or for the scroll wheel. Sure there are iBooks the only have one button if you don't add a USB mouse, and in that instance, the user wouldn't have access to those features. Therefore, keep critical functions out of that menu (unlike Sonar) :)

I think that using the scroll wheel to be able to scroll horizontally is so critical, and I can't beleive it's missing. If you have a bunch of tracks in a Live Set, the only way to scroll horizontally is the use your mouse, grab the horizontal scroll bar and move over. Try doing that in the middle of a set when you have to work between songs on tracks that are far apart. (Is this making sense?) A solution might be to do CTRL+Scroll wheel, or another option is to allow the use of the scroll button or the right-click to grab your canvas and move it over. This is implemented in SX and in Acrobat reader - when you click down your scroll wheel like a button, your mouse turns into a hand and you can grab your canvas and move over as needed.

Not using a modern mouse to it's fullest potential is about as bad a mistake as Cakewalk taking 14 versions to include an internal metronome. Ableton, please continue to innovate and don't get left behind on this. :)

Just wanna add i'd love a right-click support - like in Reason, where it's a lot easier to do things on the fly 'cause of this..
