What do you think about synthplant ?
I tried it today, and im not really into it.
Maybe when i use it more i change my mind but i think :
-First, its a cool new aproach to synthesis and its cool to see this kind of new ways to make sounds
-It's kinda difficut to make a concret sound, like a bass, pad etc.. altough it is posible
-There are very few controls, this may be good but also you dont have a adsr or cutoff or anykind of "traditional" synthesis controls, i know this may be the beauty of this synth but i kinda miss them.
-Coming from the creator of malstrom i would spect a more flexible and "advanced" synth

Yeah, I'm really into it already, making a really sinister sounding track using nothing else but own sounds in it. Nice (dangerous) that it lets you save your own patches.
I've already made some noises with it that I don't think I could have done elsewhere. To be honest I have planty of synths that are easy to make basslines on I can't see the point of even bothering to try using this. I have a hauntingly distant sounding etherial pad going on at the moment, it's wonderful for pads.
Most original programming method I've seen, I love how the dna slider scrolls to meet your mouse pointer, very ergonomic.
It's so light on my cpu!
I like it!

Try to manipulate the genes...there are more controls over all the other parameters you'd normally find in a synth on that page.Tweaking Knobs wrote:I tried it today, and im not really into it.

It can make anything, and it sounds completely different than almost everything out there.
It is more advanced than many people realize. It makes killer bass, pads, leads, and unheard of noises...I love it.
yeah how do we find it? and will it be a pc thing only and bum me out?

I fucking LOVE this thing. I'm getting really complex, deep sounds out of it almost effortlessly, and its FUN.Tweaking Knobs wrote:I tried it today, and im not really into it.

To address some of your points:
a) the idea of this synth isnt really to sit down and make a concrete sound, you gotta let it lead the way into unpredictable territory. But you can still design a concrete sound like any other synth, which brings me to:
b) Actually you can. its the "DNA" editing mode that gives you control over all the parameters of the sound. You can make a concrete sound here and then tweak branches to fuck with it more, then once you tweak with the branches to your liking you can replant THAT seed and tweak that out with all new branches.
c) its flexible enough to get down to the nitty gritty and its definately a lot more powerful than typical VA synths, but its real strength s in how quickly you can come up with insanely complex sounds with almost no effort.
