how to sustain the tail end of a vocal sample
how to sustain the tail end of a vocal sample
How would you go about sustaining the tail end of a vocal sample
say said vocal is something like
"The world is in a " , "crazy crazy" , " hue. "
" ---- 1 bar------" , "---1 bar---" , "-1 bar-"
I want to extend the word "hue" so that it spans out over a couple of bars at the same pitch. At the moment the sample of the word hue is just under one bar.
have tried to incidate in the diagram above, how it looks just now, but i want it to look something like this
"The world is in a " , "crazy crazy" , " huuuuuuuuuuuuuuee. "
" ---- 1 bar------" , "---1 bar---" , "--1 bar--" , "-- 1 bar --"
I have warped the lyrics to fit the bars so far but the last one if puzzling me.
Any advice anyone

I know in the Logic Vocoder you have a sustain type effect (i think it's called freeze) and it would do this.
Also you can probably do it using Ultrabeat in Logic, as that has a sustain function to it too...
Sorry if you don't have the gear, but look for the functions elsewhere if you don't.

If you can imagine it, it can happen...

try automating a delay.
you can pull the sample into Simpler or Sampler and play around with the RELEASE setting which can extend verb tails and stuff sometimes.
yup, stretch that tiny needle dick 'hue' penis into a 'huuuueeeeeeeeeeee' for maximum pleasure and bragging rights with the ladies and cause maximum envy at the urinals

totally, man)))
you can actually cut it up (ouch!) and just paste in the "u" as many times as you need.
if you do that in Live's arrange view you'll most likely end up with stuttering effect, as you can't edit the crossfades
so I'd do that in something like Reaper and then bounce back into Live.
or you can just warp that "u" so it lasts way much more than intended. in this case the result might sound a bit warbling, but maybe it'll fit the track. if you do that try out different warp modes also
maybe also add reverb to mask edits

you say you warped the vocals?
If the wearp markers at the beginning and end of "hue" are, lets say 9 and 13, create 2 warp marker by right clicking the 17 marker and the 9 marker. They will turn green. Leave 9 at the start. Drag 17 to the left, unitl it is at the end of hue, where the "13" used to be.
That will double the length of the word hue, without changing pitch (unless set to pitch mode)
try messing with the various warp modes. I bet "beats" will not be the best.
Better yet, only stretch the "u", leave the breathy "h" and the tail end alone. Any sampler (including simpler) can do this with looping instead of stretching.

or you could stick a huuge reverb (w/freeze?) on a duplicate track (for the phrase you need) and fade that in as the original fades out.
