What "Sample Editor Application" do YOU use?

New to Live here. I want to edit my samples (cut them and make them into new samples before working with them) - what's a good external program for Mac Users for sample editing?

peak is supposed to be a good all around editor for macs.

my edit button is assign to SoundHack.

Amadeus II from http://www.hairersoft.com/Amadeus.html

It's shareware, I bought it for $30 because I liked it better than Spark and BiasLE, Amadeus supports VST & AU plugs and is handy for format conversions:

Supports AIFF/AIFC/Wave/Mp3/Ogg Vorbis/QuickTime/AVI/SoundDesigner II/u-law/ AAC.

I second this notion. I like ss2 more than peak, even though it's filters are somewhat limited... I might give amadeus another shot, though. I didn't know it supported vst's.

The only windows software that I really miss is cooledit2. That's what a sample editor ought to be.

I use Amadeus, and I think it's GREAT. Cheap, much better UI than Spark, and supports an assload of file formats.

Mac OS X users: keep your eyes peeled for Wave Editor from Audioƒile Engineering. I've seen it in action - it's a f'in winner.

I use Peak. It's pricey but I like it a lot. It does everything I need and since I write music and DJ, it has all the tools built right in. Rip, Burn, Marker, Edit, plus it comes with Roxio Jam.

I think there are a lot of good choices for Mac. DSP Quattro is another popular one.

at the moment there is a 'SPECIAL EDITION' with limited functions on the cd of the CM magazine, it definitely does the job, thats what i am using.

Wow, never heard of this one. Can't wait to try out the demo.

Also, thx for the link logicat. I'll keep my eye on that site... looks like they write some high quality software.

I use...

Soundforge on PC - its like Photoshop for sound.

DSP Quattro on MAcOSX - I bought it.
its the closest thing to SoundForge i've seen.

I bought Dsp Quattro a long time ago. It is great, with great support.

Also a craked copy of peak pro 4. works well for me.

I woould never pay for a bias product. they have the worst customer support.
