ableton as rewire slave, plugins disabled?

i'm trying to run ableton in slave mode with MAX5 as master. ableton won't open my plugins and says it's plugins are disabled when running in rewire slave mode.
is there a workaround for this without using other programs (or at least not soundflower or jack osx)?

no you have to open plug ins in the master

not really,
its the way rewire is made

sure the complications of having to design something to run in say logic, and have live run in logic and then the same plug in running in live, the latency would be through the processor
