Ummm, as far as I can recall, the compressor in Live 7 was easily one of the most applauded updates in there. Everyone here really likes it. Jump in fellas and let me know if I'm wrong. I'm quite fond.

Live 7's compressor kicks Live 6's compressor's sorry ass.

Learn how to use a compressor and you will tell the difference. I used to have to use 3rd party vsts for compression because Live 6's was so limited, now I rarely do as the L7 compressor is way improved.

As far as I know your Live 6 Sets should be using the very same Compressor settings and sound when loaded into Live 7. It`s kind of a Live 6 compatibility mode.

The better sound in Compressor and EQ8 was the key reason I bought the upgrade.

[edit] As I understand it, you should be able to get exactly the same sound from the new as you had with the old--if that's what you like. You just have a lot of great new stuff now, in addition.

I must be an idiot for sure. I love L7's compressor as well as most of the included effects.

+1

the Live 7 compressor is outstanding - on a par with expensive standalone ones IMO

Take the built-in Lesson on Compression. If you don't do this, it's like... it's like... it's like... buying a convertible automobile and never bothering to figure out where the switch is on the dashboard that makes the top fold back - and just driving it around forever as if it wasn't a convertible.

Live 7's compressor is everything that Live 6's is and more!

2 Compressors (I and II) got melted into 1 Compressor with 3 modes.
FB1 is the one found on Compressor 1 and FB2 is the one found on Compressor 2.
With identical settings, the new compressor will sound exactly like the old ones.
