.
that's what it is - with age comes experience - you know what will happen

plus that shit is just a hell of a lot easier in your teens and 20s

now days just the thought of still being up when it's getting light fills me with dread - and it still happens just working through the night sometimes, especially in summer when it starts getting light near 4 am

beats me

That said, there's still at least one or two nights a year when it all comes together unexpectedly and you have a great night. Before you know it they're calling last call and you're like "already?". I long ago gave up on relying on friends going with me when i feel like going out, if anything there's less stress involved when you just do it solo and meet some new people.
I can relate to all that. People like me are the reason they invented last call because I wouldn't stop. About a half hour after they stop pouring alcohol I start pouting and then shuffle home.

One thing against me is that I got a DUI a couple years ago, and while I am proud to say I no longer drink and drive my night life has gone down the shitter. I'm also not in a location where there really is anywhere to go that doesn't involve driving. I have no problem splitting a taxi with people but alone it's kind of steep.

I have a somewhat odd relationship with my friends. For whatever reason I am more comfortable showing up to a place with friends but about a half hour after that I no longer care if they are there and more often than not they leave early and I close the night solo. At the same time they say I am good at breaking the ice with new people. So I partner up the group and they don't care I go off and do my own thing.

On the age thing, I'm 36 and most of my friends are around the same age but are single and yet live a complacent life of not doing much.

Work is the problem, not so much age.

It sucks. I made my Safety Dance remix when I had five days off of work. It was awesome. Wake up, get a doughnut, make music all day.

Now, a couple weeks later, I get back from work at like 7:30, have to eat dinner, then I start working on stuff and I'm wiped out immediately. Such a drag.

Sebastian Tellier played here a week or two ago on a Thursday. I wanted to check it out, but the doors of the club open at like 10:30, and I bet he didn't play until at least 11 or midnight or later. It was like, fuck! I simply cannot go.

I'm seriously contemplating a career shift. I need a break from the 9 - 5.

i fucking do.
why dont they?
piss on sleep.
i can drag ass at work so what, i only work so i can have money to have fun anyways.
im so sick of people in there late 20's and 30's acting like they are in there 60's.
i want to party!!!!
seriously.
Exactly how I feel! and im only 21 (probably helps give me this attitude). I've got a great best mate who's always up for anything, but getting a group together for anything other than a special even is nigh impossible. This is probably covered elsewhere, but where is everyone from? Im an Aussie, living on the Goldcoast, although am in Brisbane whenever Im not working :P

On the music sucking thing....

I know we make a lot of jokes on here about venues seemingly letting anybody spin but, man, I haven't really experienced that much garbage until the last 6 months. It's gotten to the point where if the DJ can somewhat beat match and blend 2 songs that are in the same key then they really made my night.

The music doesn't really inspire me to dance though and I'm not the only one in the building that feels that way. More and more I end up at these supposed dance nights and there's more people hugging the bar than on the dance floor.

I think it boils down to a matter of maturity/immaturity and what you personally consider important. What matters most?

When you are young and single, and you only have responsibility for yourself, then going out, meeting new people, and getting shit-faced are the things that are important to you. In other words, you are immature.

When you get older, develop a close relationship with a life-partner or get married, have children, and now what you do with your life doesn't affect just you, but others that you love/care about etc., your priorities change, and you realize that partying, while still fun, is really not all it's cracked up to be and a complete waste of time from what is truly important in life. In other words, you've become more mature.

If that makes you (or me, rather) an "old man" or "boring, lame-ass", then so be it.
