When dealing with a large number of tracks in arrangement view, i find the constant scrolling a bit annoying.
I'd wish for a feature similar in what you can find in Pro tools, where you can decide wich tracks you want to see.
And you can save that in a windows configuration list that you can recall via keyboard shortcuts.
The windows configuration also applies to hiding showing plug-ins, track sizes etc..
Of course I don't want live to become pro tools, but that's the kind of little feature that really speeds up the workflow.
I'm sure there's a way to implement this without messing with the GUI too much.
It could be located in a new tab in the browser section for example.
I know people have been asking for tracks folder/groups, wich is a bit similar, but i think this is way more easy to implement. And with live flexible routing you'll achieve the same stuff.
What do you think?
Show/Hide tracks and window configurations
Re: Show/Hide tracks and window configurations
Sonar has something similar called the Track Manager which allows you to configure which tracks you want to see either in the mixer view or the Arrangement view. Sonar also can be configured where one change in the the Track Management links over to the other view.Echotone wrote:When dealing with a large number of tracks in arrangement view, i find the constant scrolling a bit annoying.

Sonar has a few other ingenious commands Live needs.
I think the main idea though that Live needs is the ability to manage multiple tracks concerning (auto sizing track heights to the computer screen which Sonar does by pressing a key command, being able to change I/O parameters for multiple selected tracks, being able to quickly group tracks for volume changes and such), and what you said being able to determine what tracks you want displayed or not.
I think that is more important than folder tracks, because folder tracks main benefit is organization, reducing screen clutter, and group muting, clips and/or solo,
What folder tracks don't provide is the instant gratification level of close to instant multitrack interface manipulation Sonar has.
