pad controller question

Post by zealtha1 » Sat Nov 22, 2008 3:23 am

I was just wondering if anybody here use's there pad controller (pk,tf,mpd) to play out keyboard or synth sounds while sequencing in live. I know a keyboard is a better solution but i like to pound out my drums on pads n due to limited space its either or for me. Any feedback is appreciated

also i do realize there are capable space savers for the job (axiom, mpk etc..) i'm just low on funds so i can't afford a combo controller

yes it's very common and the korg padkontrol is the best feeling pad controller for this application

padKontrol does feel nice, but mpd's might be a bit better for this, imo. having the octave changer is nice, and 8 knobs for tweeking, built in support from ableton, transport, and the pads don't feel horrible to me, although some say the mpd pads aren't as nice as a mpc's...<shrugs shoulders> i like em both, but for synth/bass type stuff, my money's on the mpd. for drums, pK all the way, although the mpd is no slouch there either.. fuck, you can't go wrong with either really, but i think the mpd might be a little more feature friendly out of the box.

fwiw, tf for launching clips, and as a makeshift tabletop on a mic stand for my alphatrack when recording vocs by myself...
