Do you think there should be a 3rd tab with the MIXER option?

3 tabs - midi (or sound file), effect (or device), and MIXER

Post by piranesi » Sat Nov 22, 2008 9:51 pm

It would be relatively simple for the programmers and designers to make mixer functions available in the arrangement view.

There would just have to 3 tabs instead of the current two at the bottom right of the Live window.

The first tab would show midi data (or sound file date) as it does now. The second tab would show plug-ins or devices (as it does now), and the third tab would show the sliders, sends and routing information that appears in the Session window.

I don't like switching back to the Session window to adjust sends and levels. I refuse to use the silly minimal 'mixer' that appears on clicking the 'M' marble.

My suggestion would be to make the 3rd tab a track inspector, to have a more complete way of seeing everything on a particular track mixing wise

That idea is (if I understand it correctly) rather like the track overview in Digital Performer. And why not?

The tab idea has a lot of potential and hopefully we'll see it used more in the next revision of Live.

If the fellows at Ableton can implement these suggestions while still keeping the software stable (which few other DAW manufacturers seem to be able to do) I'd be delighted.

So. Let's see more use of the tabs- and in particular let's see the sliders and sends from the Session window appearing beneath the arrangement.
