manually mapping midi controls

Post by ashtarchris » Mon Nov 24, 2008 11:36 am

Does anyone know any ways to manual map midi controls in ableton?

Specifically I am trying to map different midi control messages from a lemur to ableton. When mapping x-y functions I've noticed that it's difficult for ableton to choose the right controller.

It would be a lot easier to manually enter control messages in the midi mappings rather than using auto mapping.

Complex structures are very difficult to map, such as step sequencers and bouncing balls.

Is there a way to create new mappings manual without having to click on the destination and play the signal from the midi device?

It is driving me crazy to map out complicated lemur templates.

Please Help!

thanks

chris

Have you asked out on the Lemur forum, Chris?

no- often requested, not yet implemented. midi mappings must be intitiated by a signal, they cannot be typed in.

Here is a simple utility I made in max/msp so you can send midi information to Ableton Live. You can choose the channel and controller number, and send a bang through.

Download Here.

You need to unrar the directory and run the exe. or get the max patch from here

You will need to have midiyokeinstalled to send it through.
Let me know if you have any issues.
