Ok, now I see what's happening here.
1) I didn't account for beta settings still being on people's machines.
and
2) You might looking in the wrong place for the culprit preferences
Sorry for the confusion. There is yet ANOTHER updated demo on the site now. If you don't want to download the entire thing again you can just download THIS NEW INSTALLER. Just mount the previous disk image and run this new installer instead of the one in the image.
or...go get the new demo from the site. You will need to do one of them.
Thanks for the feedback people. There are apparently a lot of funny versions of Live with funny names still floating around on people's machines out there. There will be a few new free utilities coming soon to help you guys clear out old stuff and move things around. You should find them very useful.

Hi.Moody wrote:Maybe it is just me but I did not exactly see a good description of what this tool is supposed to do on the website. Does anybody have a simple explanation?
LiveFill will install pre-configured sound collections (Simpler Patches, Impulse, Kits, FX Presets) to your system. After the one-time installation, all of the components are available directly from your Instrument and Effect preset menus, named and categorized for easy browsing.
This particular collection is based around vintage analog synths.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact us directly at:

Thanks.

The latest Mac demo installer took care of the problem.
Thanks.

Good to hear. Thorough version checking was left out of the demo intentionally in the name of keeping it simple, so much for that.php wrote:The latest Mac demo installer took care of the problem.
Thanks.

In any case, all should be good now.
And thanks to everyone for checking it out, spreading the word, offering your encouragement.
It means a lot to us.

I still don't get it
Is this add-on product anything more than a convenient Live-oriented sample library plus a bit of window dressing? What makes it different?
Set me straight - so far I'm seriously unimpressed.

What makes it different is the fact that it is exactly as you said, "convenient" and "Live-oriented", actually recorded and built from the ground up specifically for Ableton Live 4. If you know of another "sample library" that comes with Mac and Windows installers and places pre-configured sounds and presets directly into Live's instrument and fx menus then I'd really like to hear about it so we can get our lawyer ready.investigator wrote:Is this add-on product anything more than a convenient Live-oriented sample library plus a bit of window dressing? We're not trying to change the world here. We're not even trying to change Live. We just want to bring something new to the Live community, something that is musically useful and is quick and easy to use. Something that takes advantage of the current possibilities there are with Live 4. And something that will take advantage of all of the possibilities to come in the future.
Live now has a sampler, a sampling drum machine, and a ton of fx. There was no way to quickly add on presets and sound collections from third parties. We decided to make it happen. That's about it. Why not, right?
I'll relay what one person had to say regarding LiveFill...
"If you are someone who uses sample cds and ableton Live you now have two options;
1)buy a CD, put it in your machine, copy it to your hd, scroll through it sound by sound in Live's browser trying to make sense of the cryptic filenames inside, drag sound to a Simpler, tune, tweak, name and save patch. and make sure you never move the sound or you'll be prompted to hunt for it next time you want to load the patch. rinse and repeat.
OR
2)You buy a LiveFill version on cdrom or download, launch the installer once and you've got that entire sound collection instantly in Lives preset menus for every instrument and effect logically categorized and named. forever. one step. oh yeah, tweak and save. or don't, the patches are setup and perfectly tuned to your keyboard already!"
That guy gives a pretty good description of what it is to him first-hand. If you've tried it out and don't feel that it benefits your way of working then that's perfectly fine. Thanks for checking it out.

That's a brave and clear reply.
Thank you. That explains it nicely.
This is cool and I like what I'm seeing in the demo so far. (Demo installed fine here, BTW...OSX 10.3...Live 4.04)
Two commments:
1- Why "Beets" instead of "Beats"?
2- It would be helpful if the percussion-oriented MIDI files could be differentiated from the musical-oriented MIDI files. Something in the file name or separate folders for each or something.

Thanks for checking it out.
1- We're vegetarians? Seriously, there is no reason other than silliness.
2- All of the MIDI files are drums/percussion. There are no specific "music" MIDI loops in this collection. They are named according to the drum kit that we used to create the file with, along with the BPM we made it at originally. Of course all of these things are flexible and you can mix and match files between any kits you want. Originally the MIDI folder was called MIDIbeets but we changed it so as not to deter people from experimenting and using them with the Simpler as well. They are best used for drums though.
Your feedback is much appreciated and we'll take all this into consideration.
Thanks Again,
