Live 6 - Newbie Question

Post by kharless » Sat Nov 29, 2008 4:14 am

Hey gang,

Had a baby so I haven't been in the home studio for almost a year and I apparently have forgotten everything I had figured out with this program. So before I scream and tear the software off my hard drive;

My goal: To record a simple 4 bar pattern from my drum machine and then cut/paste it as many times as I need.

My current situation: I can record it fine (I am using Arrangement view, should I be in session view)? But because the pattern automatically loops I need to edit out just one and save this as a "clip" (still working on the vocab.) I drag the clip stop and ends to the begin and end of the pattern, I drag the loop stop and ends to the begin of the pattern and select the LOOP icon between the punch in and outs. Rewind and play and it continues playing past the end of my designated loop.

I know this is probably the simplest thing to do, but for some reason, I and brain dead figuring this out.

Anyone want to get a newbie rolling?

Frustrated in Phoenix.

The easiest way I would reccomend to do this, is to highlight the part of the recording that you want to be the loop, and consolodate (crtl-J on a pc). That will create a new perfectly cut clip for you, then you can loop this in the clip view down the bottom.

Hope that is what you were asking!
