navigate with padKontrol encoder (farmpad, midistroke, iac)?

Post by supamonsta » Wed Dec 03, 2008 9:11 am

Hi,

I'm working on my live template,

with padkontrol, faderfox LV2, farmpad and midistroke.

everything's fine, but I cant' manage to have the padkontrol's encoder to navigate UP / DOWN... :x

that would be very very supa cool to get it working (and saving me two padkontrol switches for other live stuff), as I could use it both in browser and in session, and in clip views... 8)

it seems that the encoder (at least with farmpad) sends the same data if turned left or right? (I asked Flycycle on korg forums... no answer for now, he seems to be very far away, or over busy )

anyone managed it ??????????

any help on this would be really great... and my next gig is... tomorrow evening, just after my working day !!!! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

panic panic

best regards

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARG !!!!!

8O

I guess it is the first time I get a totally negative answer on this forum !!!

so many lateral thinkers brainstorming with live's multipotentiality, creating little fabulous apps like farmpad, midistroke, control aid, creating useful and innovative racks and templates, and so on and so on...

and there is no solution to this????????????

thank you anyway kraze.

best regards

:o

Bome midi translator pro seems to allow this.

I'm now learning how to use it, with 'rules' like if pp>qq then rr=pp-1 ... ...

this should allow to change the 0-127 style of the encoder into a 2 way data transmitter, then assigning it to up and down.

but it seems a bit complex, don't get it for now.

I'll feedback when I have the solution.

THERE IS A SOLUTION.
I KNEW IT !!!!! :D

see you

buy this and glue or velcro it to your setup:

http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/powermate

it has system prefs driver that you can customize how it works.

i set it up so in Live it repeats the down arrow and up arrow keystroke when turning.

the only drawback is you have to have the scenes highlighted, so if you use the mouse much you'll have to click on a scene to start scrolling.

i try not to touch the mouse while performing. i also assigned a knob (not endless) to scroll so i could jump from top to bottom quickly.

well...

this is a lot more difficult than what I first thought....

Bome's MT pro is really complex (something good), and I'm not 100% understanding it for now...

what I'd like to achieve seems so simple.... and the way to get it work so complex !!!! 8O

still workin' on it, I'll feedback soon as I get it working !

cheers

:D

got it working like a charm!

thanks to Florian, the Bome Midi Translator Man. (solution on the bome forum, topic "padkontrol encoder browsing ... ..." )

But we need Bome MT Pro, that is not freebie, but cheap enough I think I'll buy it ;)

so my live template will use farmpad + bome midi translator to hack the padkontrol... and first results are really cool...

musically yours,
