Express cards loose fitting problem solved

Post by rikhyray » Thu Dec 04, 2008 12:57 am

There are lots of complains about the express card slots, myself was already packing the Indigo to sent back when I came with simple radical solution the solves the problem for good.
Since those slots are not that tight and there is rather silly spring mechanism to push a card out, it is enough to adjust volume control or push the cable in and it might end in BSOD in worst case.
My solution cant be simpler- take a toothpick from Swiss Army knife and push on the side till it fits tight . Why the Swiss Army one,? it has little edge that makes it easier to pull out.

8O you call using a toothpick solving that problem?

i would stick that card down their throats for being not 100% tight and fitting like the parts of a swiss watch.

Who`s ? The bunch of idiots of Personal Computer Memory Card International Association who decided to establish new useless standard nobody really wanted and designed it with obvious flaw- it is not Echo but all and any card.
I already packed it for refund when I came up with the idea, there is no alternative, you cant get such latency with anything else.
Either you do it my way get the best out what you have at hand or sue the entire universe like some timur.

it's applying to all of your express cards?

then the comp manufacturer is to blame... hey i might have been a bit over the top with the swiss watch association... but really it's a vital part that should fit properly... i know it's difficult.

basically it just felt so weird to consider your toothpick solution as a solution to be passed on as a supposedly proper solution.

that's all.

p.s. sorry i am probably so nasty since yesterday, because i have to stay in the town you are living in and i am hating so much, until damn friday.
damn it, damn it, damn it.

how can you live here???

do you play somewhere ? you might have missed some good sides of the city. For me it is just the location> airport and centre of Germany.I spend only as much time here as work requires
That express thing sucks but what choice we have? we musicians are not really of any importance in that IT game so we have to adjust and get the best out what we get.

hi, no i am not playing... and i probably miss some good sites, i am here working in my day job, we have an event at the 'alte oper' and i do technical wireless / sound / communication support.

i am from time to time here for work, never really have time to see much and what i see, sucks, sorry it's just how i feel, two years ago during musikmesse i was brutally kicked out of cocoon (they throw me head first down the stairs and kicked a friend (female!) of mine who was with me with boots) for "to wild dancing"
i had a lot of trouble with them and there PR department afterwards! f**kers
and i never had time to go to offenbach to see some friends :)

actually reminds me that i tried to get hold of you, met with some other ableton peeps here in f-furt.

i leave tomorrow, around midday... guess you are working?
tonight we have show, so unfortunately no time to maybe hook up :(

i can see why you are 'only' working here.

cheers
axel

oh, that sounds really rude, somehow I never ever been there passed by 1000x ,I do not consider SV anything and definitely not god as some people do (with glow in their eyes). I mostly go to events when I am paid or some friends working, otherwise get bored, seen too much of that.
This time of the year here is terrible, I should be in Palma but have to do my taxes (2007, I am damn late) and finalising musicscore for a DVD.
Get in touch by next time you coming around, today I am stuck with those hills of paper.

My RME Expresscard for my Multiface is loose too on my Macbook Pro. Definitely a step backwards from the old PCMCIA cards which locked in firmly.

BOOOO to spring-loaded eject!

Copious quantities of gaffer to the rescue!

You are right I just seen the bloody Swiss toothpick sells for 2,50 plus shipping. I guess getting 100000 of those made in China would be not much more then the retail of one.
