Effects in Ableton

Post by skent » Fri Dec 05, 2008 11:53 pm

Just picked up Ableton a couple of weeks ago and had a couple of questions.

I am sure there is a way to do this but have not figured it out yet. I am want to apply certain effects to specific midi notes within a clip. In other words if I had 8 midi notes and I wanted to apply an effect to the last 2 notes can I do that?

Also can I apply effects to specific parts within a sample without effecting the entire sample clip?

Thanks for any info!

racks with key zones

page 196 of the manual, it's worth a read.

as a new user you should check out the videos at www.ableton.com/movies and always leave the help box open in the lower left corner of the Live GUI.

Thanks. I watched most of the movies but did get the info I needed. Funny enough I just got my manual in the mail today so I will read through it.

Thanks

If you're recording in the session view, you could enable clip envelopes and adjust the parameters of the effect you want to only come in during the range of your last two midi-notes by drawing an automation curve or step with the draw-tool. Just make sure you have it linked to your clip, as if it's unlinked it may fall out-of-sync.
