return/send question
return/send question
my actual setup is with more tracks, but lets use a simple example:
Track 1: drumrack
Track 2: audio lead
1 Return track with effects in order to assign to track 1or2, or both when i want to (using the send knobs in order to let the effect have effect).
example:
i want a filter cutoff on drumrack, while my lead keeps on playing normally.
so i turn on cutoff in the return and open the send of my drumrack.
the problem is: my sound of the cutoff doesn't get fully cutoff, because my audio of that track is set to 'master', so when i change 'audio to' of that track to 'return', then the cutoff has full effect.
the only problem with that second setting is, when i close the 'send' button, in order to delete the effect of that track, then there is no audio at all...
because obviously my 'audio to' is set to return...
but is there a way to have full effect of the return, then turning send off, and still have audio? and this without the fact that when you turn send on, the volume goes up..., when send turns open, volume has to be just the same as before, only with the desired effect
i don't find it in manual...
i want this so i can switch channel sends quickly from track to track with the plugs of the return having full effect...
also i don't want the 'volume' of a track go up, simply by opening 'send' to max in order to have full effect of return...
can someone briefly explain a solution?
thank you!!

switching to 'send only' does not help, as this only works when the send button is open... i want to be able to close send button, without volumedrops...
a bit complicating maybe, but there is a way, i'm sure...
yeah, using plug per track, thats an alternative i'm afraid of...
i know thats a sollution, but i'm not fond of it, as this results in several x the same plug, just to use it each track.
which can result in more trouble.
i prefer one plug which you can route to all or any track.

Another "cheap" trick I found out is to have your tracks' Audio To Sends Only but have an extra empty send next to your sends. Then lowering your send knob from your track and increasing the second send knob that controls the sent amount to the last empty send(midi mapping them to the same controller and reversing the second one), you can get a dry/wet control. I wasn't happy with the crossfading, though...
