maybe you could just expect a true artist to be themselves and write music they like. some people still play 60's and 70's rock.Emissary wrote:it sounds TOO much like AFX! if this is him then he disappoints. for an experimental musician to regurgitate music he was doing a decade ago seems a bit off to me. i'm not saying its not good, just a bit dated. i hope it is rdj, because otherwise some poor bastard has spent years of his life trying yo copy someone elses music.garyboozy wrote:because it sounds exactly like aphex?Emissary wrote:and you know this because?
maybe it isnt, but if not, its one of the best 'fakes' i've ever heard

It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

It seems to be a common thing anymore to claim you're RDJ anymore, just to get plays on myspace, and it's fairly hard to prove otherwise, since he doesn't exactly confirm or deny anything to anyone - he likes to let people think what they want without offering any explanation or expectation, which makes deciphering anything he does or says near impossible.
Look at the subject of the op's post - like someone else said, no pic, no friends, lots of plays, but why? Not because people actually know what the deal is with that profile, but because everyone wants to get in on the ground floor of RDJ's next project, even if it means chasing down bullshit that may not mean anything on the rare chance that it actually means something - you have a better chance of finding treasure on the sea floor.
I bet any of us could do the same thing, provided we made intricate, strange, but good sounding IDM - say you're the new RDJ project in a couple of forums, and bam, tons of plays with little to no effort. That tactic works as well as starting a profile with a pic of a hot chick as your avatar.
God bless the interwebz.

this is true, if i were him i would collate all this rip off work and sell it under his own name. whos going to argue with him. these people have got so close to his sound that in a court of law it would be close to plagiarism. most of these songs sound like songs he has already written with a few notes changed here and there. seems a bit pointless.last man on earth wrote:It seems to be a common thing anymore to claim you're RDJ anymore, just to get plays on myspace, and it's fairly hard to prove otherwise, since he doesn't exactly confirm or deny anything to anyone - he likes to let people think what they want without offering any explanation or expectation, which makes deciphering anything he does or says near impossible.

i've heard the new aphex. it doesn't sound like that.
it was one track, but it was not traditional style aphex at all. the only reason i know it was aphex is cause i asked the dj, James Holden, who it was cause i thought it was his track.
i have yet to see any reports on this new music though. and have yet to see james again.
