while scheduled cloning may sound desirable you are still leaving the door open to clone a problem drive and then have a garbage backup.

my plan is to get a drobo. two partitions: one partition will have a bootable clone of my MBP HD, the other partition will have sparse images of my other external drives. superduper will do the backing up.

Yeah the ultimate would be carbon copy cloner and a drobo, but damn that drobos expensive, i'd think of a a millin things to buy before i got one of those sexy beasts.

CCC is so much faster after the last update, i'd say about 40-60% faster, somewhere around there
