Must haves:
1. Crossfade in arrangment view. I used to use Cubase and really miss this feature. You could drag one clip on top another, and the crossfades automatically popped up, and you could adjust the fade slopes.

2. A "pre" start point for audio clips that have recorded sound that starts a few milliseconds before the down beat in a scene during session view. This would also be very useful for midi clips. It would work as long as the global quantize function was on and it's value is greater than the amount of audio that starts before the scene.

3. Midi transpose +12/-12 shortcut.

Hope to haves:
1. User grooves. Grooves are an extremely important tool especially for electronic producers. No one really likes perfect 16th note fractions unless it's a desired computer sound effect. And the shuffle feature isn't as realistic as a real human shuffle. As far as I know, there's no way to achieve this in Live except for adjusting each midi note one at a time to match the audio. Unless someone knows otherwise. Currently I am exporting my midi tracks out to other sequencers where I can apply this function. If Ableton implements this, I hope they allow a way to change the grooves like clips during a Live set.

2. Dual monitor support. And MAYBE a few options for rearranging the window layouts. It'd be great if I could see the arrangement/session on one screen with the mixer, and have the clip editor with the device chain on the other screen.

3. Wave analyzer. For using in a device chain before and after a compressor. I think this will extremely help Ableton users since the majority of them completely squash their dynamics. It's not really that important, but it'd be a nice feature to have. I currently use this: http://bram.smartelectronix.com/plugins.php?id=4

just a thought..
#1 is alot to ask for, but it's very important.
#2 is a feature that should be available because, MOST people with recording studios have multiple monitors.
#3 isn't that important, I just think it would help Ableton users, and also save time when finalizing tracks.

No you're not!

No Crossfades in arrangement view is the reason why I don't buy Live. It is provided by my employer and I use it at work only.

When you cut a clip, a possibility of a small fadein is a basic function included in all DAW nowadays.

My whishlist is having tempo automation in session view. I would like to be able to import any midi file, and that it follows the midi tempo map.

I control the tempo in session view with dummy clips, but it it quite complicated to program...

I agree with you guys.. + add FOLDER TRACKS to save space on screen and for better organization of tracks..It would be great to have colors for tracks too, not only for clips..

yeah, maybe at least make the bus channel act like folders, or make the folders act like buses. I sometimes get lost when i'm glancing at the screen. It'd be great if we could colorize the tracks to make them easier to identify.

Well, there is one way, not exactly the best, but it will kinda work. If you play your track in arrangement mode, and record or draw a tempo automation. Then in session view you can the play clips you want and only those tracks will switch to session mode. You should just start in session mode anyways, map a midi control knob or slider to the tempo and record all of it to the arrangement. All the clips will record including the tempo automation track. And as far as fade in after cutting clips; you can do that in the clip editor envelopes, or in the session view automation lane. I see what you mean tho. It'd be nice if tempo automations could be recorded in a clip, then be recorded to the arrangement without having to quickly tweak a knob exactly to the desired BPM. Right now I think there would be some conflict in programming. Might take them a while to get that feature.

Well I will just consolidate my previous requests here :

1.More transport controllers ! skip ,fast forward etc.

2. Automatic Bar cropping splitter tool !
for example : you are recording a midi drum kit in a session long take . The timing is wrong and you want to fix some quantization ,but not the whole thing .
Highlight the clip or track go to edit choose bar cropping for 16 ,8, 6, 4,2 ,1 1/2,1/4 bar(s) etc. and presto ....also would be handy for making "midi loops" to copy to clips for live improvisation .

3. Integrated step sequencer
But instead of this being a plugin it should be a view choice in the midi editor view :
Piano roll (command+s+1) ; default view
Step (command+s+2) ; x0x0x view -808 ,909, 303 etc. (with accent and slide ! )
CV (command+s+3) ; knobs and sliders -monophonic only
Nortron (command+s+4) ; dspaudio Norton seq view

4. Add MIDI control to External Instrument!
Editor/Librarian (think Midi quest)
With the basic on screen control parameters (like lives vst parameter view)
user definable/download-able definitions ...
(so you don't have to bloat the overall app size ) you could also release the a basic sdk so that ameture & hardware devs might have an easy excuse to sell controller plugins ?

and sysex import export ....or you could just copy image line's dashboard
(hell if they can do it ... )

5. instrument rack into audio rack
as in a simplified "flatten track " skipping the freeze ?....why not

6. Multi choice start up template (dose 7 have this I'm on 6.0.10 )

7. M-audio iControl support

NativeBreaks, This way of doing tempo automation is good for one song, but as your live set grows, It cannot hold. I was up to 100 tracks, in a 90 minutes set and by no way I could control tempo via arrangement view. One more thing is that you lose a lot of options when you do that, as of follow action needs warped clips to work, so combining the 2 is very complicted.

Dummy clips is the way to go, as each clip gives you a control over tempo.

oh yeah, i forgot to mention. u do know that you can enter in tempo changes in the scenes right?

read up in the manual or ableton's site. It's no automation, but at least you can have the tempo change for each scene..

greater resolution (32nd,64th,etc) for auto quantize is a must as well as x-fades and groove templates. mabey a step sequencer on the arppegiator for some added funk and flavor. maybey at least more pattern options for the arp.

Crossfades in arranger are critical, I can't believe we don't have them yet!!!

Group/folder tracks--another critical DAW feature missing

moer quantized options and grooves--another "can't believe we don't have this feature".

Ability to have different amounts of swing/groove for different clips in one set (ie not tied to the global groove amount at the top left)

These are all really critical features that are crucial for typical DAW work, I'm pretty surprised we're still waiting on these at this point. Anyone know if there iss offficial word from Ableton on this yet?
