I AM BERLIN BOUND AND WANT TO GET PARTY TIME

Post by shervington » Tue Dec 16, 2008 1:45 pm

Basically i am coming to berlinin the new year and was hoping some of the german heads on this forum could inform me of the best and most bangin places to go out? i am coming with my girlfriend, once i get the romantic part out the way i am looking to get down to some SERIOUS minimal techno vibes. get we! where should we go? i heard about a club thats on some next level to all the others, apparently there is room room for all the dirty old men to get busy with each other?!!!!!!!!!

also are there any good record shops? not on a dance music vibe cos there is bare of them in england. i am on a sample hunt currently and would love to here "there is this MASSIVE wharehouse full of records sold really cheap". get me?

anyways

Watergate is the best club in Berlin for Minimal Techno. I've spent many nights/mornings at that place.

That place looks scary as hell... Looks like a prison or something.

You should check out 'watergate' & if possible get into 'weekend' and stay until the sun comes up and watch it from the outside balcony which happens to be like 20 storeys up or something !! actually i think if its snowing in Berlin that would be an awesome sight from there.

But unless you can find a well connected local your chances of getting in these places are slim especially over the holiday period.
About 20 of us went in June and we had to really blag to get in to these clubs.
See if you can book ahead or get tickets or something.

If you want a well located hotel and decent value...check out the 'Park Inn' on Alexandraplatz (spelling) which is just round the corner from Abes HQ.

Good luck, Berlin is a wicked place I really wish I was there over new year and not down at my inlaws on the isle of wight....yay!!

Large groups (especially British stag parties) are often blocked by the door policy of most clubs mentioned here - thank God. If it's just you and your girlfriend it should be no problem, apart from New Year's eve/morning itself where places like Berghain have a limited number of tickets.

i personally think it#s a shithole, panorama bar and kantine, which belong both to it are way better, IMHO.

enjoy berlin, but to be honest, the big name clubs all suck.
and especially on NYE. it#s just a rip off.

try to get a ticket in advance, for the place you like to go to, be it berghain or whatever... otherwise, experience tells me you will have a very, very hard time to get into any club around that time...

not being nasty, it#s just berlin you see best being here for at least a >looong weekend hanging out with insiders, at a 'normal time'

anyway, have fun and enjoy your stay.
