changing loop length with midi controller

Post by de wouzer » Sun Dec 14, 2008 11:48 pm

When I connect a knob on my midicontroller to the loop lenth, i can only whitch from a very small loop to a big loop
the numers:
small loop: 0/0/1
big loop: 1/0/0

Can i change this settings?
I would like to change the loop lenth like in traktor, where i have more choice of the lengt of the loop.

I hope someone can help me

I just started to add this to my template the other night.
I wonder if this would be something you would program on your midi controller?
an example would be changing th values for your controller.
instead of it scaling from 0-127
maybe 0-64 (or somthing)
I too would like to hear others thoughts on how they solved this one.
Stuff I actually use.
sound card, speakers, mic, MBP, Mighty Mouse, Ableton, Reason, iPad, iPhone,Touchable, Rebirth, & other apps.

Racks and Macros come to mind.
Ableton’s engineers are hard
at work developing code that will allow our software to predict the future, but we don’t
anticipate having this available until at least the next major release.

Sorry, I had Simpler on my mind at the time. Are you speaking of clips or Simpler/Sampler loop length?

I'm guessing clips since my last statement made little sense. One needs to add more warp markers if you want to be more granular with your loop points.

I will try to make warp markers.

But i think it's so strange that it's different to change the loop length with my mouse and with a midi knob.

When you automate the loop length, it is tweaked by a resolution as specified in the global quantization menu. (You can also automate the quantize resolution with another controller).

If you need finer sample-accurate resolution, another method is to render your loop to a wave file, then load it into Simpler/Sampler and modulate the loop length from there.

For very "traktor-stlye" loop length changes, click on the clip view's loop brace and use CMD+UP/DOWN, I guess use CTRL on PC.
This will double or halve the loop.
Not exactly what u're looking for but nice
