Good Place to Buy Spool of Cable? Soldering Iron?

Learned how to make my own cables a little while ago at a studio I used to work at and im currently in need of some XLR cables and would like to make them myself. Hoping someone can tell me a good place online to buy a spool of cable and the XLR ends and maybe recommend a good soldering iron for the job. Thanks!

LadyAda has this good collection of tools to get you started with wiring projects. There are also some synth/audio/DIY kits and projects on her site.
