Firstly what i think Ableton can do is amazing but i don't like doing it sat at a desk. Hopefully in the future Pioneer will release a cdj 1000 mk4 as a midi controller. This would allow me to rewind/fast forward quickly through a track placing warp markings as i go. If this doesn't happen could the new partnership with Serato do the same thing?
So rather than developing technology to improve upon the auto-warping feature, just make warping tracks more fun!
Id appreciate anyones thoughts....

I've been intrigued as to how exactly Serato and Live will mesh together, but I think Pioneer does see that the CDJ1000 MK4 should have MIDI output if they are to try to survive in the future. I wouldn't be surprised to see them start releasing MIDI only controllers, or OSC controllers (OSC seems to be the future of MIDI). I would like to have a better way to warp tracks and your idea sounds interesting...

I have seen a few other posts about music sites that offer asd files with the mp3 so they are pre-warped. I understand the opinion that essentially you could then mix without any skill.
However I was until very recently a vinyl dj, but the concept of beat matching was fun to do for me and allowed me to learn my records. Where as i just find warping tracks needs to be done but i dont really get much pleasure out of it till i can start "mixing", creating loops, layering etc.

i totally agree.you know,i started with mixing vinyl, then cdj, then vci-100.the thing is that looking for a part in a track with vinyl/jogwheels is what makes mixing huge fun, because it's a INSTANT.i also like it when using cue points to jump to my favourite sections in a track.i NEVER use live for mixing songs, because to me it feels like making love over the phone.it's not the real thing.nuttyclubber wrote:I have seen a few other posts about music sites that offer asd files with the mp3 so they are pre-warped. how hard could it be to implement something like that in live?
