Bass guitar into Live via Mac?

Post by Simon Lewin » Mon Nov 29, 2004 10:38 pm

Hi there,

Sorry if this is a bit of a basic question...

I'm running Live 4 on an aluminium PowerBook.

I wanted to get some live bass guitar recorded into this.

I've got a Hartke bass amp which has 1/4" jacks send & returns on the back for an effect look plus an XLR socket marked 'Direct Out'.

I wondered what would be the most effective way of getting the live bass recorded into Live? I've also got a Edirol USB UA-1X audio interface which has stereo phono inputs and a Low/High input select switch.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Simon[/i]

xlr direct out.... into your edirol input... and if you feel like it on the other input, get a mic and put that in front of your cabinet.

then in live, record both inputs on seperate mono channels.

Yeah, You cant beat the di/mic combo. Separate mono tracks will give you a lot of tweaking possibilities. Also, if you have a compressor handy you could use it to tame the boomy notes and get a nice consistant level in.
