OT - Best deal on a new Hard Drive for Macbook?

Post by freqn » Fri Dec 26, 2008 10:17 pm

Got some Christmas cash, so I made a list of some upgrades I need to make to my current setup. One of those is a bigger HD for my black Macbook and getting Leopard so I can utilize bootcamp. Anyone know of any deals? I have a 120gb at the moment, which I plan on using as external storage after I upgrade. Suggestions?

These guys offer a hard drive along with an ext. case for a great price.

Also some tutorials if you need'em.

I've used several of the 3.5 ext. enclosures for 4-5 years now with NO problems.

They're support is the best in the biz. JMHO

Good Luck!

I had a Travelstar 200/7200 that died after 5 months. I posted a thread about it a little bit ago. Luckily, it was still under warranty. Fast drive, and besides the dying, it was great. Definitely noticed a performance increase. I hope this new one doesn't crap out on me.

Found a kit - Hitachi Travelstar 320gb 7200rpm with FW enclosure for $109 after $20 rebate. Seems like the best deal.

Thanks!!!

if you plan to use your existing disk as external, get 120 ssd disc. no seek time, no heat, no mechanics, better batery live - that's kind of unique upgrade.
