Is it possible to sync KP3 via midi to Ableton?

Post by funknotik » Sun Jan 04, 2009 9:01 am

I understand tHe KP3 can be used as a midi controller. But can the sampling function on it be synced to Abletons clock and have everything on time? I read something about a tempo detect function on the kaoss pad, anyone tried it? Considering getting one to augment my current set up.

That is no problem.Hook up your KP 3 via USB to your laptop or desktop. Make shure that youre KP3 is set to external clock and that Live is sending a signal to the KP3. That's it

kp3 can serve midi clock or get it as a slave (it is configurable). i would not trust tempo detection. it is shity on korg devices (kp3, zero4).

Yeah just set the clock to external.
Then in the ableton preferences make sure that "sync" is on.

Thats awesome exactly what i wanted to hear. This device is truly awesome and for all its capabilities definetly worth the money imo. Gonna order it this weekend.

More Details Please!!!

Hi I just bought a KP3 and am having no luck getting it to work in Live. Ableton recognizes that it exists. I can set the KP3 to act as a rudimentary MIDI controller (like, the FX Release can act as a volume control) but can't get it to act as an actual instrument in Ableton — none of the effects, no synth sounds... nothing.

I've read through the Ableton manual, the KP3 manual, tried to scour the web. I've had no luck.

Please, please, please, can someone post a detailed, step by step guide on how to get the KP3 to function properly in Live? I will be forever grateful!

I've found the KP3 tempo detection was pretty good with Live as opposed to CDs or something where the tempo is constantly changing slightly.

Does the USB port on the kp3 be used as audio in/out?
