really really stupid question...
I am messing around with sampler, not simpler.
And after googling and youtubing I still don't know how to sample in sampler.
The problem I am having is that I have the sample I want, drag it from the audio to sampler....but then, I am trying to find out how to play it in sampler and have a box of it's own I guess? In the session view. Box of it's own meaning there is a clip of it in session view of the new sample I wish to cut.
I have youtubed, and they zoom in on sampler and have it playing but I am a complete noob and have no idea how to play it. Sorry if this is a really dumb question. >.< don't know what I'm missing here . . .

Hi,
Open up an instance of Sampler, drag your sample audio file into it, now you can play the sample from your midi keyboard. BTW the original pitch of the sample is reproduced at C3.

I have the same problem that dropbeattalent has.
Here's what's happening.
1.)drop sample as audio file in clip view
2.) open sampler as midi in clip view.
3.) drag audio file from clip view into Sampler's window at the bottom left corner of the screen.
Here's where the problem lies : the wav form DOES show up in the Sampler window; however, there is no ability to preview or manipulate the audio sample within Sampler's window.
A.)The only thing I can do in the Sampler window is to move the Sample Start and Sample end brackets.
B.) There are no brackets for Looping that show up in this window like every YouTube or Abelton Live video that I've seen so far
C.)None of the wavform's information is showing up in the Zone chart.
I'm starting to wonder if there is something i need to change in my PREFERENCE settings . Is there anyone who can help either of us? I'm on the brink of insanity over something so simple. I've searched this forum and youtube like a madman for the past two days straight.
PLEASE HELP this Rookie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry..i'm trying hard not to weep.

Your answer is here allready:
If you don't have a midi keyboard you can use your computer keyboard or double click a slot on the midi track where sampler is and draw some notes with the mouse.heavensdaw wrote:Hi,

Read the manual and then look along the top of the sampler and open up the tabs you require to select the sample you want to adjust or assign to a key. It will become apparent then. Sampler is good as a multisampler and for it's LFO. As for sSmpler, well it's simpler if you just want to play back a sample. Don't play it too far out of it's pitch otherwise it will sound funny.

I figured out the assigning to the key aka midi/controller.
A little while after the post. But another question I have is this:
What if I wanted to rework a whole song though?
I made a post in general forums and no one has responded yet.
But I basically want to recreate Justice's cover of Master of Puppets just to learn the program a bit more. Is it possible to use sampler to do what I want to do?
Cause I get to the consolidating and copying or whatever into the arrangement view since it's a bit more straining to see it in session view.
but sampler in session view seems to work all samples from that one track, when I want to create several from one track. And it creates a midi clip in session view rather than a play button for the sample in sampler.

Theres no easy way to do what i think you want to do. Justice spends hours painstakingly automating cutting and pasting to create there tracks. If thats the kind of stuff you want to do you're probably better off working in the arrangement view.
Thank you so much for reiterating the answer was right under my nose. I finally figured it out.djgroovy wrote:Your answer is here allready:

I couldn't play the sample brought into Sampler because I didn't assign the actual physical MIDI trigger ( ie computer keyboard key or MIDI controller key)
i was trying to start the sample in Sampler by hitting the space bar.
I'm kinda new to the MIDI concept seeing that I make mash-ups only using mp3 and waves. I'm looking forward to actually attempting to engineer my own sounds as opposed to just looping things others have created.
Once again thanks for the help.
wasabi.
oh and BTW, this is what lead me to come here for your guys' advice. hope this might give some of you guys ideas if you already didn't know how to do this. i find it rather exciting.
